16th March 2011- Scissor Cutting and Plenty of Easy Cooking!

Hello to those who are reading,

Today is day one of mummy boot camp- me booting myself up the but to get these kids into activites in their own environment and to deist with their development where I can. It didn't start off to well with plenty of cat fights during the night, my dogs barking at the cats and my lack of sleep due to my upcoming eels of radiotherapy which is beginning to worry me!

So today, the boys are dynamite on legs, knowing mummy is tired, why wouldn't they push my buttons as much as possible? Connor is asleep so Master B and I are attempting to do a cutting activity for the very first time. Brayden is left handed, with both mummy and daddy being right handed the challenge has begun. Already he is getting confused by trying to watch me cut, let alone trying to learn how to hold his scissors or get the blunt safety ones to work.

I have purchased some $1 wrapping paper sheets from red dot, we have dinosours and trucks today, the easiest way I found to show him, was by cutting long strips of the paper for him, holding either side of the paper and letting him practise cutting between my fingers. He did really well and had a great time!! We have several pieces of artwork hanging on the fridge! This project lasted for about an hour and cost $2, it helped with his hand to eye co-ordination and many other area's of his development just by asking him questions and talking with him!

The rest of today was a bit all over the place!! We drove to the next town over (about 40 minutes away) to do food shopping- which was the usual... we pointed and named all the different fruits & vegetables, Brayden chose some of his favourite meals out for mummy to cook and the best part was we added to the ever growing craft collection!

I came home and literally went on a cooking marathon- I made Carbonara, Tandori Chicken, Honey Mustard Chicken, Lamb Rogan Josh and Bombay Chicken Curry- all served up into individual serves and frozen ready for next week! I am about to go through the hardest ten days of my life!! I have to go to Perth (3 hours away) for radiotherapy - it means that I cannot be with my children at all for 10 days straight! This is something that I am really not coping with, I will miss the boys, Garry and my family more than I can even begin to imagine at the moment!

Anyway.... tomorrow's agenda- Green Geli-baff in a swimming pool, filled with plastic bugs, slugs and crocodiles for the boys to play in all day long should they wish!! It is going to be a great day and again a great play experience with my babies!! I am really enjoying my goal of having one set up activity for the boys each day, it really isn't very hard but so rewarding at the same time!! Already this week, I have done scissor cutting/pasting, painting, play dough shapes and cooking toasted sandwiches!! So simple, so cool!! :)

I love being a mum!!

Until tomorrow, take care and enjoy being a mummy!!

Tahlia
xoxo
